About

SUNIL BHATIA writes crime fiction that asks what justice costs the people who pursue it.

His debut crime novel, Replica, set in Las Vegas, explores how investigating violence changes investigators. The book examines identity, deception, and the blurred lines between hunter and hunted in a city built on illusion.

He's currently developing a series on Seattle's only hate crimes detective, Jiddu Jackson, as he navigates impossible caseloads, institutional isolation, and the cumulative weight of bearing witness to humanity's worst impulses. The series asks hard questions about justice, bias, and the personal toll of fighting for both.

Sunil writes accessible literary crime fiction with emotional depth and procedural authenticity. He's drawn to stories about people doing difficult work under impossible conditions, and what that work reveals about character under pressure.

He's also written The Weeper, inspirational fiction exploring how people find purpose through helping others in their most vulnerable moments.

Sunil lives on the West Coast with his family, where he teaches during the day and writes at night.
